Privacy & Data
6 questions
Username, email, and a hashed password — that's it. No behavioral data, no device fingerprints, no logs. Delete your account and it's all gone.
No — not now, not ever. The only third parties that touch any data are Stripe (billing) and Hetzner (hosting), and neither receives your messages, contacts, or behavior.
No — and this isn't just a policy, it's architectural. Messages are encrypted on your device before they leave it. Our servers only ever see ciphertext, and we don't hold the keys.
Never. Your messages and activity are not used to train any AI model — by us or anyone else. Full stop.
Never. No face scans, no government ID, no biometrics of any kind. We built KOMMZ so this is never required and never possible.
Everything is permanently deleted within 30 days. And since messages are E2EE, the content was never readable to us in the first place.

Encryption
4 questions
KOMMZ uses the Matrix protocol with the same Double Ratchet encryption as Signal. Messages are encrypted on your device with keys only you and your recipient hold — by the time they hit our servers, they're already unreadable to us.
On by default, always. You don't configure anything — there's no unencrypted mode for private conversations.
Yes. All calls are encrypted in transit via SRTP. Audio never passes through our servers unencrypted.
AES-256 for messages, Curve25519 for key exchange, HMAC-SHA256 for authentication — all based on the Signal Protocol. The spec is open and auditable.

Platform & Features
6 questions
Everything you need to communicate: unlimited servers and channels, voice and video, screen share, E2EE DMs, animated avatars, 100 custom emoji per server, and 25MB file transfers. Talking to your squad is never a paid feature.
Pro ($5/mo) adds 500MB file transfers, 500 custom emoji, HD video, a custom server URL, priority support, and early feature access. It's for power users who want more headroom, not a gate on basic communication.
Yes — Steam, Epic, and Battle.net supported. One toggle hides it with no trace. When it's off, nothing shows — not even a placeholder.
Not yet — desktop only for now. Mobile is planned once the core experience is solid. One thing done well beats two things done poorly.
A screen sharing mode for streamers with a moveable webcam overlay, auto-blur for notifications and DMs that appear on screen, and saved layout presets.
No. KOMMZ is subscription-funded. Ads are not part of the model — not now, not in five years. Our incentive is to make the product worth paying for, not to sell your attention.
Technical & Self-Hosting
5 questions
Matrix is an open, decentralized messaging protocol used by governments, Mozilla, and millions of others. We built on it because E2EE is built-in, it supports self-hosting, and the protocol is public and auditable — KOMMZ is never a black box.
Yes. Run your own Matrix homeserver and connect it to the KOMMZ client — your data never touches our servers. Self-hosting docs are coming before public launch.
Hetzner, EU-based, GDPR-compliant. Only the founding team has server access — and since everything is E2EE, even that access can't expose message content.
Matrix Synapse + PostgreSQL on the backend, React 18 on the frontend, WebRTC for voice. Deliberate, maintainable, and the client will be open-sourced.
Yes — the full Matrix Client-Server API is available. Any Matrix-compatible client or bot works. KOMMZ-specific docs coming with self-hosting.

Pricing & Plans
4 questions
Free for everything core. Pro is $5/month or $48/year. No hidden fees, no dark patterns. The free tier is a real product, not a funnel.
Any time, no fees, no guilt trips. Access continues to the end of your billing period, then you're back on the free tier.
No plans to. If that ever changed, we'd give real notice and grandfather existing subscribers at their current rate for at least 12 months. No silent hikes.
All major cards via Stripe. We don't store card details — Stripe handles it entirely. PayPal and crypto are on the roadmap based on demand.

Founding Access
5 questions
A one-time payment that gets you into private alpha with permanent recognition. Supporter ($99) — 6 months Pro + Vanguard badge. Founding Member ($199) — lifetime Pro + Architect badge. KOMMZ Founder ($499) — lifetime Pro + Originator badge. All tiers close at launch.
You will never pay for Pro again, for as long as KOMMZ exists. Not a "subject to change" offer — it's what founding membership means.
You'll get an alpha invite by email within 24 hours. Badge and Pro access are applied automatically when your account is created. Founder tier gets added to the private channel and introduced to the team directly.
Yes — within 30 days if you haven't activated your invite. After that, spots are non-refundable. Have a specific situation? Email [email protected] and we'll work it out.
Core chat, servers, and real-time messaging are live. Voice, DMs, and settings are in development. You're getting in while it's being built — your feedback directly shapes what gets prioritized next.

Account & Safety
4 questions
Server owners have full mod tools. For platform-level abuse, email [email protected] — we're a small team so response isn't instant, but every report is taken seriously.
No. Server owners only see their own channels. DMs and group chats are E2EE — not visible to anyone outside the conversation, including us.
Server bans are handled by server owners. Platform bans are reserved for serious ToS violations and always come with a reason. No surprise bans for arbitrary reasons.
Change it in account settings when logged in. Email reset is coming before public launch. Locked out during alpha? Email [email protected] and we'll fix it.
